What Makes Azuquita Special
Azuquita was named after the Spanish word for "little sugar"—a nod to the calaveras de azúcar, or sugar skulls, that decorate altars during Día de los Muertos. But to those who know her, she is more than sweet. She is a celebration of life, a gentle reminder that those we love are never truly gone.
Every year on November 1st and 2nd, families across Mexico and Latin America gather to honor loved ones who have passed. They light candles, prepare favorite foods, and build altars covered in bright marigolds and photos. Faces are painted in elegant skull designs called Calaveras—symbols not of fear, but of joyful remembrance. And among those vibrant spirits, you'll find Azuquita: calm, quiet, and glowing with love.
Her Calavera Catrina-inspired face painting, designed by Mexican reborn artist Mayra Garza, sits gracefully over her hand-painted brown eyes. Her rooted dark brown hair and embroidered yellow onesie with blue lace and puffed sleeves echo the warmth and brightness of the celebration. Every detail reflects reverence, artistry, and joy.

Sculpted by world-renowned artist Ping Lau, Azuquita is crafted from our premium GentleTouch™ Vinyl and features a softly weighted PG cloth body for an authentic, huggable feel. At 20 inches long and 2.625 pounds, she feels like a true toddler in your arms—strong, sweet, and full of soul.
More than a collectible, Azuquita is a keepsake for those who celebrate culture, family, and remembrance. She reminds us that love crosses time, and that the stories of those we honor live on—in song, in celebration, and in the arms of the living.
