Now living in S.Carolina, Kathy Smith-Fitzpatrick began her formal art training in Boston, Massachusetts in the early 70's. Children and animals have always been a favorite subject matter, but creating dolls occurred quite by accident. She discovered the doll world while searching for a piece of reference at a magazine rack. For her, the idea of working in the third dimension as opposed to flat artwork remains an intriguing creative challenge to this day. Since 1994, Ms. Fitzpatrick has created numerous porcelain, vinyl and polymer clay dolls for manufacturers, private collectors and dealers alike, accumulating thirty two awards and nominations, including two coveted " DOTY Public's Choice Awards".
